VICUS FORTUNAE - A CROSSROAD OF HAPPY EXPERIENCES
More than 2000 years ago a fertile land by a mighty river
called DRAVUS was already settled by the Romans.
A settlement was established next to the military camp and was mentioned by the
Roman chronicler Tacitus as early as the year 69 as POETOVIO.
With each new conquest, the Roman empire continuously grew.
new towns were being etsablished, crafts and trade flourished and prosperity
was ever increasing.
In the imperial offices, dilligent clerks recorded the paid taxes and duties.
These were educated men, many of whom came from the east. Besides their rich
knowledge, they also brought their customs, traditions and religion with them.
They worshiped a whole array of Roman gods as commanded by the emperor, as well as those, to whom the Celts had already built altars around these parts.
They also built a new, special, mysterious sanctuary...
Only a few were allowed to enter. Only a few were revealed the secret.
THE FIRST MITHRAEUM was built.
However, since the longing for happiness has been present in human
consciousness since ancient times, a special sanctuary was also built for the
goddess FORTUNA.

A whole part of the city had been named after the goddess of fortune – an
entire district: VICUS FORTUNAE – the quarters of (the goddess of) fortune
In the area of the first specifically named quarter of a certain roman city,
we expect you in the new tourist center from september of 2025 on.
You will be able to experience the golden Roman era like you never had the opportunity to before!
